"A paracosm is an imagined, detailed fantasy world invented by a child or perhaps an adult, involving humans and/or animals, or perhaps even fantasy or alien creations. Often having its own geography, history, and language, it is an experience that continues over a long period of time: months or even years."
Bumping into Mr. Ravioly by Adam Gopnik: "busyness of life in New York City; effects on a child's imagination."
Just read this, and researched a little bit about paracosms. It's really good. Or at least I really liked it.

It's true. Nobody listens to anybody anymore. That's why I stopped going on Mondayeyes - because everyone posted a whole lot and nobody ever commented on anything. Communication involves both directions. Consequently.... that's what I'm majoring. Communication arts. It encompasses writing and film and makes me happy. =)
I'm halfway through the Charlie Ravioli thing and I'm finding it really interesting. I totally have an elaborate paracosm, which is sort of necessary when you write fantasy.
Thanks for sharing this. Amazing and sad at the same time - not to mention inspiring: a whole novel in which none of the characters ever get to meet.
I picked up on this as I have a blog search out for Charlie Cornelius, a character in my latest book. She has an elaborate paracosm which might actually be real.
